CERN & EPFL Open Days

Open Days at CERN

CERN is holding Open Days during the weekend preceeding the meeting (14-15 September). Tickets become available on 5 July and usually go very quickly. We urge any EPSC-DPS Joint Meeting 2019 participants interested in visiting CERN's underground facilities to register as soon as possible once the tickets are available to avoid missing out on this rare opportunity. Information is available at https://opendays.cern.

"On 14 and 15 September 2019, CERN will open its doors to the public for two special days at the heart of one of the world's largest particle-physics laboratories.

The CERN Open Days have become a regular feature of the period that is called the "long shutdown" during which our accelerators stop for around two years, to benefit from upgrades and renovation work. We are now in Long Shutdown 2.

The 2019 Open Days will give visitors the chance to discover our facilities, both underground and on the surface. With free admission to debates, film screenings, theatre performances, experimental workshops and dozens of visit points spread all over the site, we will take you to the heart of our Laboratory, in direct contact with the science of today and tomorrow."

"Whether you are passionate about science and engineering or just curious to see what goes on behind the scenes at EPFL, you should check out our special open house this fall.

This family-friendly event, which will be held to celebrate our school's 50th anniversary, will take place over the weekend of 14–15 September 2019. It will be free of charge and open to anyone with an interest in science – from children on up!

The theme will be the future of technology. Visitors will get an inside look at the cutting-edge initiatives being carried out across the school in the areas of innovation, research and education. You will be able to check out informative stands, attend talks on specific topics, take part in workshops and campus tours, play educational games and enjoy a host of other activities.

Don’t miss out – join the 30,000+ people expected to visit our campus over the two days."
